Scholar of the Month Program
The purpose of the Scholar of the Month Program is to identify students of color that demonstrate strong academic promise currently enrolled in grades 9 – 12 that live in City of Roanoke, Salem City, Roanoke County, Montgomery County, City of Radford City or Pulaski County. ColorsVA magazine, in partnership with Virginia Tech and Radford University, sponsor this initiative to highlight the efforts of academically gifted and talented students. Both Virginia Tech and Radford University, respectively, use this Program as a pipeline recruitment strategy to enhance diversity on their respective campuses.
Who Can Submit a Nomination
Nominations for Scholar of the Month may be submitted by a teacher, principal, guidance counselor, School Board member, clergy, or community leader

Who Judges Nomination?
Nominations for Scholar of the Month will be judged by the publisher, associate publisher, editor and ColorsVA staff
Nominations for the Scholar of the Month are accepted beginning August 15, 2019 until March 30, 2020. Nominations are accepted on a rolling basis. 8 students are selected throughout the academic year and featured October – May.
