The 2019 Virginia elections ushered in political and ideological changes. Not since 1992-93 has the Democratic Party held trifecta control in Virginia. When the session convenes this month, Democrats will be the majority in the House of Delegates and the Senate, along with a Democratic Governor, Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General. Many are hopeful this Democratic control will lead to meaningful legislation that will improve the lives of all Virginians. Legislation being proposed will address common sense gun reform, the green new deal, education, equity and equality and criminal justice reform. Communities will be affected in different ways. ColorsVA invited voices from different communities to share the impact that the change in leadership will encourage.
